Plastic Surgery Trends to Watch for in 2018

At Mountain West Plastic Surgery, we try to keep our blog up to date with the latest news in aesthetics to help not only our patients, but anyone who wants to learn more about trends in cosmetic treatments. Dr. Hromodka and I have a few predictions for which cosmetic procedures will be popular this year. It may come as no surprise that social media has influenced cosmetic surgery trends. We’ve definitely seen upticks in procedures such as facelift, BOTOX, and even perennially popular breast augmentation at our Kalispell practice as people become increasingly visible on social media.

The “selfie” is here to stay. Instagram, Snapchat, and other forms of social media continue to grow in popularity in 2018. The creators of these apps use updates and new features to keep users interested. Because these outlets mainly involve posting photographs, the quest for the perfect “no filter” selfie lives on. Many individuals, men and women, turn to cosmetic treatments and procedures to enhance their features. An attractive selfie may not be the main reason people choose to undergo plastic surgery or medical spa treatments, but it is an added bonus.

Injectables are continuing their upward trend. Injectables, like dermal fillers and BOTOX, are no longer reserved for A-list celebrities like the Kardashians. Young professionals and grandmothers alike are rushing to their nearest provider for treatment—and for good reason. Injectables are quick treatments that provide visible results with little to no downtime. Some even call them “lunchtime procedures” because people can get back to work and their other daily activities immediately after the quick appointment. On top of that, they take years off without the expense, discomfort, and incisions that come with surgery.

60 is the new middle age. Recent medical advancements along with generally healthier lifestyles allow people to feel much younger than their actual age. Men and women understandably want to look as youthful and energetic as they feel. Facelift surgery is a great way to take years off your appearance and achieve long-lasting results. Additionally, surgical advancements continue to improve the facelift procedure—both the results and the overall experience. Patients often worry that a facelift will result in a “windswept” or “pulled back” look. However, nowadays, if you choose an experienced board-certified surgeon, your results should look natural—like a very refreshed version of yourself.

Breast augmentations will never go out of style.  Whether or not breast implants play into your plan for the ideal selfie, breast procedures have topped the most popular cosmetic procedure list for years. Whether it’s a standalone breast augmentation, or a component of a mommy makeover, women are continuing to elect for surgery—at any age. Women in their early 20s into their 40s and 50s get breast augmentations for several reasons including to add volume, correct asymmetry, and restore youthful curves.

If you are interested in undergoing any of these popular procedures, or you want to learn more about your options, request a consultation or give us a call at (406) 756-2241.
